The Oysterponds Shellfish Co has reached its twentieth year of oyster cultivation and sales. Originating in 2003 as a marine science initiative by Reg Tuthill, Lyle Tuthill, and John Holzapfel in Oysterponds Creek, Orient, the company’s operations are currently overseen by Phil Mastrangelo and Brian Tuthill, who is Reggie’s grandson.

The Times Vintage is filled with a carefully curated and ever-evolving collection of one-of-a-kind vintage and pre-loved fashion, home goods, and vinyl records. The family-run business is housed in the former Suffolk Times newspaper building in Greenport, Long Island. The the two-story stucco building was built in 1909, and is deceptively large. The oldest saolmakers in America. Born to a family of sailmakers in Scotland, our founder, William J. Mills, settled in Greenport, NY on the North Fork of Long Island. The area, known for it’s impressive whaling and oyster fleets, was in need of a master sailmaker and thus William J. Mills & Company was born. Today the legacy continues. For Claudia Purita, sustainability and self-reliance have always been a way of life. Growing up on her family’s farm in Calabria, Italy, Claudia assisted in growing vegetables and wine grapes and raising small animals from very young age. At her father, Domenico’s, side she learned to value the land and the fruits that it provides. After moving to Long Island and spending several years in the restaurant industry, Claudia decided it was time to “return to her roots.” Much of the vineyard was hand planted and each vine has been meticulously tended to by Claudia’s exacting touch. Day in and out, she has labored, largely by herself, to produce the highest quality fruit. The superiority of her work is evident in each of the wines made from the vineyard. A few sips will lead you to appreciate just what one woman’s hard work can produce.

Jamesport Vineyards is a father-son collaboration that began in 1986 making it one of the North Fork’s oldest vineyards. Since Ron Goerler Sr. acquired the 165-year-old barn that houses the winery and tasting room a lot has changed, both aesthetically and agriculturally. The tasting room has increased to accommodate an ever growing number of visitors.
The great lawn out back provides the perfect setting for the Jamesport weekends where people gather to enjoy great wine, light fare and summer jazz concerts.
