YOUR GUIDE TO THE ULTIMATE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND ON THE NORTH FORK

Greenport Fire Department Carnival
The Polo Grounds at Moores Lane, Greenport
July 1–5, 6–11 pm | Fireworks: July 2 & July 5

A beloved local tradition returns with classic rides, carnival games, snacks, and two nights of fireworks. It’s the kind of nostalgic fun that’s perfect for families, a throwback date night, or anyone craving a taste of summers past. Think funnel cakes, big slides, and lots of neon lights. Plus, there’s plenty of parking right on-site at the polo grounds.

Southold Village Merchants’ Parade
Main Road, Southold
July 4 at 12 pm

This red, white, and blue parade is as hometown as it gets. Grab a coffee and a shady spot along Main Road for a festive and spirited kick-off to Independence Day. While you're in Southold, pop into some of our favorite local shops like White Flower Farmhouse, White Flower Garden, and Touch Goods for home and garden finds, or Arni Paperie for charming gifts. Don’t miss the Southold Historical Society for a bit of local history. Its unique barns and buildings are open weekends through mid-September:

Shelter Island Fireworks
Crescent Beach, Shelter Island Heights
July 12 at 9 pm

This spectacular waterfront show is worth the ferry ride—or, if you're lucky, you can catch glimpses from Greenport Harbor. Make a day of it: start with a hike at Mashomack Preserve, where over 2,000 acres of protected land feature oak woodlands, tidal creeks, and a thriving bird population, including ospreys and endangered species. For dinner, try Leon or SALT, and top it off with a swim at Crescent Beach before the fireworks begin.

Orient Harbor Fireworks
Orient Harbor
July 12 at 9:15 pm

A charming, community-focused display that’s the perfect way to extend your holiday celebrations. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and enjoy the show over the water.

See you soon, and happy 4th!
