On Monday, April 6, Uncommon Artist-in-Residence Tom Holmes presents an artist talk at The Halyard & Gathering Room at Sound View Greenport, followed by a tour of his studio. An interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and conceptual work, Holmes explores themes of mortality, metaphor, and cultural memory through layered abstraction and object-making. During his residency, he will develop a research-based project examining Greenport’s maritime history through its burial landscapes and community memory, offering guests a rare opportunity to engage with work rooted deeply in place and history.
